Ajay Singh
I'm Ajay Singh, and I run Property Safety Scotland as a sole trader. It's a free matching service: I pass enquiries for property safety checks to independent local specialists, and they quote for and carry out the work.
Why I run the site
A Scottish landlord can need an electrician, a gas engineer and an EPC assessor, all on different timetables, while the rules are spread across several government websites. This site puts those rules in one place in plain English, and lets people ask for every check they need with one form.
It's also a business. Specialists may pay for enquiries in the areas they cover. You pay nothing, and the About page sets out how that works.
What I don't do
I don't carry out safety checks through this site, and I don't check or certify anyone's work. The guides summarise official guidance. They aren't legal advice, so if you've got a specific problem, go to the source or take advice.
How the sources are checked
- Rules come from official sources such as gov.scot, mygov.scot, HSE and council websites, and each page links to the ones it uses.
- Prices come from named cost guides, with their dates, and they vary with the property.
- A source has to open with a normal request. If a site blocks that, it's treated as unavailable: the page uses another source or leaves the fact out.
- Anything that's only a proposal, such as the EPC minimum standard, is called a proposal.
- Each page shows when its sources were last checked.
Getting in touch
If you spot a mistake, email enquiries@propertysafetyscotland.co.uk and I'll look into it. The site's ICO registration number is ZC284176.
